Cumbria Therapies was established by Marion and George Dunlop to provide integrated training for organisations; one-to-one therapies, coaching, relaxation and stress management services for individuals; and a place where like-minded therapists can meet for mutual support, the sharing of best practice and continuing professional development.
More recently with the expansion of the Centre in Carlisle, we have a growing, select team of experienced associate therapists using the facilities. All are fully qualified in their chosen therapies, are fully insured, attend regular supervision and training updates and adhere to strict codes of conduct and ethics as laid down by their therapy professional bodies.

Peter has been working as an acupuncturist and healer for over 17 years. In that time he has continually trained and developed his practice in the healing arts. He first experienced acupuncture when he had treatment for low energy levels and stress. Through treatment he learned a great deal about himself. His energy levels improved in away that his friends noticed and he became more relaxed. He was hooked! He started training and the rest - as they say - is history.
Acupuncture (from a fully trained acupuncturist) is truly holistic. As such it can go deep to the source of disharmony in body, mind and spirit. Peter trained in two wonderful but very different styles of Acupuncture, each with its own unique approach and strengths. He has also had advanced training in many common health issues which acupuncture is effective in treating. After these many years of training Peter still has a commitment to continuous professional development. Healing is his passion; Peter feels blessed to enjoy this rewarding work. In his spare time he loves to connect with nature; walking in mountains, canoeing or sailing. These activities along with Thai Chi, Yoga and Meditation, sustain him and assist him with his work.
Contemporary Acupuncture - 2500 year history
Peter's experience of treating people with acupuncture has lead him to have a huge respect for the many healers who have contributed to this great body of knowledge – tried, adapted and tested over more than 2,500 years. His training in London and Leamington Spa colleges included further developments by recent innovators aimed at the stresses of 21st century living.
