Helping you to find balance in your life
Zero Balancing / Acupressure (Peter)
What is Zero Balancing?
Sometimes described as Structural Acupressure, Zero Balancing integrates a western scientific knowledge of body structure with eastern understandings of energy and healing. As such it shares many natural healing principles with acupuncture, yoga and shiatsu. The person who devised this technique - Dr Fritz Smith – is a conventional doctor as well as an osteopath and master acupuncturist. . If you want to know more, Peter recommends Dr Fritz Smith’s book ‘Inner Bridges.’ Peter has had the privilege of training with Fritz Smith almost every year since 1997 as part of his continuing professional development
What happens in a session of Zero Balancing?
A Zero Balancing session lasts about 40 minutes. First you will be asked what your needs are at this time. This is followed by a gentle assessment of certain joints, movement and posture. Most people find this detailed attention to their needs a rare treat in today’s high speed, high tech existence. You will then be invited to lie fully clothed on your back on the treatment couch. The work involves gentle releases, finger pressure and held stretches. Your job is simply to relax and enjoy the experience.
How does it feel?
The quality of touch in this form of acupressure is key. You will be held in a gentle, respectful, nurturing way which invites releases of tension. Our bones and joints embody our core structure and so working on them can reach deeper levels of our body mind spirit. Being worked on at this level may feel profound. It is relaxing in a special way that encourages healing.
Various natural responses to treatment can include changes in breath pattern, rumblings from the intestine as it relaxes, or seeing colours. In a Zero Balancing session inner stillness and calm may be witnessed by the practitioner and the recipient as you enter deeper into a healing state.
What can Zero Balancing do for me?
Zero Balancing is a gentle way of balancing body energy with body structure. It is relaxing, calming and centring and enhances state of mind. It invites the release of tensions accumulated in the deep structures of the body. Zero Balancing has many healing benefits either for existing conditions, or to support a demanding, busy life.
Some of the potential effects of a Zero Balancing session:
Really Zero Balancing has to be experienced directly; words rarely do justice to the feeling of being so wholely supported. And of course everyone has their own personal experience particular to their needs on the day.
Zero Balancing and personal growth
A Zero Balancing session can facilitate the flow of life force within you, opening you up to new possibilities and releasing old less helpful patterns which are self-limiting. It is possible to move into new states of awareness where you discover your true nature, and realise your inner potential.
